Hahnemann, the Father of Homoeopathy who dedicated his life to healing, had Pluto in the 1st house – which indicates that some of his life's lessons would be to do with transformation of the physical body – and we know that Hahnemann experimented extensively with taking his own medicines. With the ruler of the 1st house, Jupiter, being in the 8th, there was likely to be a simultaneous exploration to do with life/death issues.

The Sagittarius Ascendant shows an independent, happy-go-lucky persona with the knack of seeing the big picture – these qualities resonate to the flower essence Agrimony – and also tells of a person inclined to learn experientially. Ordinarily the 1st house indicates the health problems that could arise from the conditioning patterns developed in youth; for Hahnemann it could involve the hips (Sagittarius) and the bones (Saturn Capricorn) although there is no mention of this in the history books.

Saturn exalted in Capricorn exhibits stamina and calls for the application of discipline with regards to the physical body. At the extreme this could manifest as being too rigid or hard on oneself - Rockwater is the essential essence to transform this pattern. Saturn in the 1st house could indicate an underlying fear of bodily processes (Crab Apple), hence possibly at one stage providing the impetus to heal.

Quite fascinating is that Chiron, dubbed ‘the Wounded Healer' in astrological mythology, is strategically placed in the 1st house of the physical body. Incidentally, ‘The Wounded Healer' underscores the crux of homoeopathy – ie ‘like cures like', or, what can wound me is also the gateway to healing me. (Pine and Elm resonate to Chiron in Capricorn).

The Sun and Moon in Aries complement the Ascendant boasting drive, innovation, and energy – (Impatiens, and Hornbeam for energy spurts that are intense but short-lived). The Sun in the 4th house utters that the fiery side to Hahnemann is toned by a Cancerian nurturing and protective side (Chicory, Red Chestnut) that is highly sensitive (Centaury). Thus the leadership tendencies credited to the fire signs are perhaps demonstrated in a less dictatorial style (Vervain).

Mercury in Pisces, plus Mars and Uranus conjunct in Pisces, all positioned in the 3rd house offset the fire signs lending more fluidity and depth, telling of a genius type mind that is prone to flashes of insight and driven by intuition and compassion – (Clematis facilitates creative intelligence; Star of Bethlehem helps with the sudden unexpected Uranus type shocks; and Pine complements Pisces). Uranus here, epitomises originality and eccentricity. With a 3rd house Mercury it is no surprise that Hahnemann was fluent in 7 languages and given to long, circumvent speech. In his book, The Organon, one sentence alone takes up the whole page, and the pages are punctuated with several footnotes.

Venus in Aquarius equals a calm, gentle heart and paints a picture of the compassionate humanitarian – which could assume at times as appearing too aloof or detached (Water Violet).

Taurus and Gemini are in the 6th house of health and service indicating an affinity with herbs and the healing spirit of nature. Gemini here points to the imprint, or understanding, that the mind is a major influence on health. Gemini rules the lungs and although Hahnemann was robust in health and lived 84 years, (highly unusual for the era) a mild lung infection was apparent at the time that he left this world.

The 6th house also indicates a genetic influence – Heather and Clematis for optimal function of the throat chakra for communication and thyroid; Cerato for the Gemini traits; Chicory and Mimulus for the ruler of the 6th house positioned in the 2nd house could all be important to break through the conditioning that is tied to the family influences. The Libra Midheaven suggests Hahnemann was ultimately seeking harmony, peace and balance (Scleranthus) .

Thus, the key Flower Essences in Hahnemann's chart are Agrimony, Rockwater, Clematis, Chicory, Red Chestnut and Vervain.
